On May 8, Tessa Heller, our teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, took ten Northeast BOCES Deaf/Hard of Hearing students on a field trip to the Downtown Aquarium in Denver. These students, ages 6-16, represented six different BOCES school districts. This yearly field trip is an excellent opportunity for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students to spend time with their peers within BOCES. Our older students are excellent mentors and role models for the younger students. A special thanks goes to RE-1 Valley School District (bus driver Reesa) for providing transportation and to Deb Dickerson, Callie Dickerson, and Trudy Herman for volunteering their time to support the students. We could not have participated in this wonderful opportunity without them!
